In summary, specific application requirements for MTA
Small Business Development Programs include:
MTA Small Business Mentoring Program (SBMP)
Tier 1
This program is targeted to small contractors.
Applicants must be in business for a minimum of
two years and cannot have more than $3 million
in average annual gross sales over the past three
calendar years. Applicants must provide at least two
references for commercial work in each of the trades
in which they would like to be pre-qualified. Projects
listed must be valued in excess of $25,000 each.
MTA Small Business Mentoring Program (SBMP)
Tier 2
This program is targeted at small contractors who
have successfully completed the SBMP Tier 1.
MTA Small Business Federal Program (SBFP)
This program targeted to small and certified
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises who have been
in business for at least one year, have a personal net
worth not in excess of $1.32 million, have an annual
earnings cap of $5 million per year averaged over the
last three years and are capable with MTA assistance
of securing a bond for up to $3 million.
By completing and submitting the application, the
applicant authorizes the MTA and its Construction
Manager to conduct a background investigation of the
firm including financial, credit and performance history
and integrity as well as verification of all information
provided. The MTA reserves the right to request
